The Best Day Ever

Today was absolutely amazing. After a hearty breakfast and a little painting, we decided to take a hike up to a lake near Jackson Peak that Sarah's friend Hannah led us on. We had to drive up to the trail head and by the time we got there we were at 8,000 feet. The hike took us up 2,000 more feet elevation wise and took us four hours to complete. It was by far the hardest hike I have ever done and I was having some trouble at the beginning keeping up and also breathing (that was hard). However, all of that was worth it when we got to the last mile and there was snow everywhere. We had to tramp through it, trying not to slip and fall (which happened plenty of times) and then we got to a bunch of rocks that we had to climb over (again trying not to slip and fall). We finally made it to the lake which still had ice on it and we ate our lunch on some boulders. It was so beautiful and overwhelming that we just sat in silence for a little while to take it in. We went down to the lake to get some more water (we had filters) and then we took off on our trek back, which was much faster than the one up. We picked up a hitchhiker on the way home (don't freak out mom) who had been on a 15 mile hike and wanted a ride home. He was nice and he is from Austin. Anyway, we made it home exhausted and took showers and ate dinner and watched a movie. Today was such a fantastic day!

Pics at the bottom.

Much love,
Emma
